What We Do

The main goal of our Biomedical Research Lab is to understand and treat  the junction between 2 or more different living tissues. We use a combination of approaches and technologies that we have developed for use in our studies. Learn more about our research and areas of study below.

Developing  standard mathematical models

It is essential to have a standard mathematical model through which various interventions can be tested  Our long-term goal is to develop such a model.

Developing physical models

With work previously done by a former lab member, we have developed a powerful tool for use in the identification and characterization of the processes in our model system. A major advantage of this development is its improved sensitivity, which allows it to detect subtle dynamic property changes in response to our experimentation.

Ex vivo testing

We still have only a very limited understanding of most aspects the joining together of different living tissues. Answering questions , by using an ex- vivo model, will help to further understanding the mechanistic role and for developing tools to further explore this research avenue with more sensitive measurements and improved data collection.

In vivo testing

In an effort to gain a better understanding of the world around us, we have recently begun to use a new technique to investigate the organization and functionality of the diverse parts of our experimental model. We are currently looking to expand this work by collaborating with other labs who have the facilities and prior experience to investigate this project further.
